Vincristine Dosage

General Information on Using Vincristine

Some considerations to keep in mind during treatment with vincristine include the following:

  • This medication comes in injectable form. It is given through a needle inserted into a vein (an intravenous, or IV, injection) once a week.

  • The doses are normally given by a healthcare provider in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital or infusion center.

  • Let your healthcare provider know right away if you experience redness, swelling, or burning at your IV site. This could be a sign of a serious problem that can occur when the drug leaks out of the vein into the surrounding area.

  • Vincristine should only be given intravenously. It may cause death if administered by other routes.

  • For the medication to work properly, it must be used as prescribed. Chemotherapy generally works best if taken on schedule; however, you may need to miss doses if you develop certain side effects.

  • If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage of vincristine, please talk with your healthcare provider, nurse, or pharmacist.
