Tasigna Drug Interactions

Tasigna Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Tasigna is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Antacids may decrease the amount of Tasigna absorbed from your stomach into your bloodstream, potentially making it less effective. If you use antacids, take it at least two hours before or two hours after your Tasigna dose.
Certain Antidepressants
Tasigna may increase blood levels of certain antidepressants, possibly increasing your risk for side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction.
Certain Blood Pressure Medications
Tasigna may increase blood levels of certain blood pressure medications. If you take a blood pressure medicine with Tasigna, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your blood pressure more closely and decrease the dosage of your blood pressure medicine if needed.
Certain Diabetes Medicines
Tasigna can increase the blood level of certain oral medicines used in the treatment of diabetes. If you take one of these diabetes medicines with Tasigna, your healthcare provider may recommend you check your blood glucose (blood sugar) levels more often, especially when you first start taking the medications together.
Tasigna increases blood levels of colchicine, which could increase your risk for potentially serious colchicine side effects. Do not take these medications together without first talking to your healthcare provider. You may need a lower colchicine dose.
CYP 3A4 Inducer Medications
The liver breaks down Tasigna using enzymes known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Certain medications known as CYP 3A4 inducers can increase the activity of these enzymes. Combining Tasigna with one of these CYP 3A4 inducers may decrease the level of Tasigna in your bloodstream, potentially making it less effective. It is generally recommended that Tasigna not be combined with strong CYP 3A4 inducers.
