Purinethol 50 Mg

If you have acute lymphatic leukemia (ALL), your healthcare provider may recommend chemotherapy treatment with Purinethol® (mercaptopurine). Available in the form of 50-mg tablets, Purinethol is taken once daily, preferably in the evening and on an empty stomach. Your specific dosage, however, will depend on how much you weigh, how you respond to the medication, and various other factors.

For those who have difficulty swallowing tablets, Purinethol can be made into a liquid suspension. Most people who use this chemotherapy drug will develop some type of side effect, such as low levels of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
