Cancer and Mitoxantrone

People who have multiple sclerosis or certain types of cancer may receive mitoxantrone (Novantrone®). This prescription drug is specifically approved to treat the following conditions:
 
 
As an antineoplastic (anticancer) medication, mitoxantrone works by damaging DNA and blocking the action of certain enzymes that help to repair damaged DNA. As a result, DNA is unable to multiply and divide. This eventually causes the cells to die.
