Leukemia Home > Gleevec and Tylenol
Gleevec® (imatinib mesylate) can potentially react with a number of other medications. For example, alfuzosin (Uroxatral®), almotriptan (Axert®), budesonide capsules, and acetaminophen (Tylenol®) could cause negative drug interactions with this chemotherapy medication.
If you are taking Gleevec and Tylenol at the same time, your risk for liver toxicity may be increased. To prevent this problem, it is generally recommended that people limit their acetaminophen use to no more than 1300 mg per day. Talking to your healthcare provider about your current medications before starting Gleevec treatment can also help reduce your risk of complications.
