You should not use Elitek if you:
- Are allergic to it, rasburicase, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Have had a severe allergic or blood reaction to Elitek or rasburicase in the past.
- Developed methemoglobinemia (a blood disorder in which an abnormal amount of methemoglobin, a form of hemoglobin, is produced) from Elitek or rasburicase in the past.
- Have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
There are a number of situations in which Elitek should not be used, along with several warnings and precautions people should be aware of before using it. However, it is possible that not all of these issues were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your healthcare provider about the safety concerns that may apply to you.
