Leustatin Drug Interactions

Leustatin Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Leustatin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Amphotericin B
Combining Leustatin with amphotericin B could increase your risk for amphotericin B side effects, such as kidney damage, low blood pressure (hypotension), and lung problems. Your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely for these side effects if you use amphotericin B with Leustatin.
Using clozapine and Leustatin together may increase the risk of dangerously low white blood cells, which could lead to serious infections. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking clozapine during Leustatin treatment. However, do not stop taking clozapine unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
Biologic and Immunologic Medications
Combining Leustatin with biologic and immunologic medications that suppress the immune system could increase your risk for potentially serious side effects, including low blood cell counts and infections. Leustatin should not be used in combination with some biologic or immunologic medicines, while other combinations will require careful monitoring.
Echinacea may decrease the effectiveness of Leustatin. Do not take echinacea during Leustatin treatment without your healthcare provider's approval.
Live Vaccinations
People who are receiving chemotherapy are generally advised to avoid getting a live vaccine. This is because live vaccines contain live viruses or bacteria. Because Leustatin can decrease the body's immune response, you could become infected with the virus or bacteria used to make the vaccine. Also, live vaccines may be less effective in people using Leustatin. You should not receive a live vaccine during Leustatin treatment.
Combining roflumilast with Leustatin could increase your risk for developing an infection. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before using these medicines together.
Leustatin may decrease the effectiveness of sipuleucel-T. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before using these medicines together.
