Leustatin Dosage

For treating hairy cell leukemia, Leustatin dosing guidelines will be based on the person's weight and how he or she tolerates the medication. This prescription drug comes as a liquid that is injected slowly into a vein (intravenously, or by IV). It is usually given continuously over 24 hours, for 7 days in a row. If you respond adequately, you may receive this treatment every four to five weeks.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Leustatin

The dose of Leustatin® (cladribine) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on your weight and how you tolerate the medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

What Is the Recommended Leustatin Dose?

The usual recommended dosage of Leustatin for the treatment of hairy cell leukemia is 0.09 mg per kg body weight (0.04 mg per lb) per day. It is usually given continuously over 24 hours, for seven days in a row.
Your healthcare provider may recommend additional seven-day courses of treatment every four to five weeks, depending on how you respond to the medication. According to the manufacturer, people who do not adequately respond to the initial seven days of treatment are not likely to benefit from additional Leustatin doses.
