Leukeran Side Effects

Serious Side Effects

Some side effects of Leukeran are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
 
    • Rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth, tongue, face, lips, or throat
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
 
 
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Aches and pains
    • Sore throat
    • Cough
    • Painful urination
 
  • Any unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Dark, tarry, or bloody stools
  • Signs of anemia, such as extreme tiredness, dizziness, or pale skin
  • Unusual muscle movements, such as twitching, jerking, or tremors
  • Muscle weakness or difficulty walking or moving
  • Agitation or confusion
  • Hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not really there)
  • Seizures
  • Severe mouth sores (see Mouth and Gum Problems During Chemotherapy)
  • Shortness of breath or new or worsening cough
  • Signs of liver problems, such as:
 
    • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
    • Dark urine
    • Upper-right abdominal (stomach) pain
 
  • Signs of new tumors or cancers, such as:
 
    • Changes in the size or color of moles
    • Skin sores that do not heal
    • Unusual lumps or growths
 
  • Numbness, tingling, or pricking sensations, especially of the hands or feet
  • Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea
  • Missed menstrual periods.
