Leukeran and Arthritis

In some cases, a healthcare provider may prescribe Leukeran® (chlorambucil) to treat rheumatoid arthritis. However, this is an "off-label" (unapproved) use for the drug.

As a type of alkylating agent, Leukeran works by interfering with DNA replication, which is a process necessary for cells to copy themselves and divide. This causes cell death.
