There is no standard staging system employed for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). Instead, CML is classified by phase. Phases of CML include:
 
  • Chronic phase
  • Accelerated phase
  • Blastic phase
  • Relapsed.
 
It is important to know the phase of CML in order to plan treatment.
