Elitek® (rasburicase) is a drug licensed to manage uric acid levels in people who have certain types of cancer. Specifically, this drug may be given to adults and children who are receiving chemotherapy for lymphoma, leukemia, or cancerous solid tumors, as these people have an increased risk for developing dangerously high uric acid levels.
 
It is available by prescription only and comes as an injection that is given into a vein (intravenously, or by IV) once a day for up to five days. Potential side effects of Elitek include nausea, vomiting, and anxiety.
