Leukemia and Busulfan

The chemotherapy drug busulfan (Myleran®) is used to treat chronic myelogenous leukemia. It comes as a tablet that is taken once daily until blood cell counts return to normal levels. This prescription drug is approved for use in adults and children.
Busulfan belongs to a group of medicines known as alkylating agents. It works by preventing DNA strands from replicating. As a result, cancer cells are unable to grow and multiply correctly.
